What Does This Physiotherapy Assessment Evaluate?
This self-assessment was designed by our physiotherapy team at Form Recovery & Wellness in Bangkok. It evaluates seven key factors that physiotherapists use to determine whether professional treatment is necessary — or whether self-care is enough.
Here’s what we look at:
- Pain location Where your pain is matters. Different areas of the body — back, neck, knee, hip, ankle — respond differently to treatment and carry different risk profiles.
- Duration of symptoms Pain that’s lasted more than a few weeks is less likely to resolve on its own. Chronic pain (3+ months) almost always benefits from professional assessment.
- Pain severity We assess how much your pain interferes with daily life — from mild discomfort to debilitating pain that limits everything you do.
- Triggers and patterns Whether your pain worsens with sitting, exercise, specific movements, or happens unpredictably tells us a lot about the underlying cause.
- What you’ve already tried If rest, stretching, painkillers, and massage haven’t helped, that’s a strong signal you need a different approach.
- Warning signs Certain symptoms — numbness, tingling, weakness, or pain that wakes you from sleep — indicate conditions that need professional evaluation sooner rather than later.
- Your goals Whether you want fast pain relief, a diagnosis, injury prevention, or to get back to sports — your goal shapes which treatment path is right for you.
Signs You Need Physiotherapy
- Your pain has lasted more than 2-3 weeks
- Over-the-counter painkillers aren’t cutting it
- The same injury keeps coming back
- Your range of motion has decreased
- You’re experiencing numbness, tingling, or weakness
- Pain is affecting your sleep, work, or exercise
- You’ve had surgery or a significant injury
If even one of these applies to you, taking the quiz above will give you a clear recommendation in under 2 minutes. Click here to speak with a Physio specialist at Form Recovery & Wellness.
How Does the “Do I Need Physio?” Quiz Work?
The quiz uses a scoring system based on clinical assessment criteria. Each of your answers contributes to a total score that determines your recommendation:
- Score 0-7: Self-care first. Your symptoms suggest this may resolve at home. We’ll suggest what to try and when to reconsider professional help.
- Score 8-10: Professional assessment recommended. Based on your pain duration, severity, and what you’ve already tried, physiotherapy would likely help.
- Score 11+: See a professional soon. Your symptoms are significant enough that waiting longer could make recovery take more time.
- Red flags detected: If you report symptoms like numbness, weakness, or bladder/bowel issues, we’ll recommend appropriate next steps regardless of your score.
Every result includes the option to book a consultation or request a callback from a specialist — personalized to your specific pain area.
When to See a Physiotherapist?
You can probably self-manage if:
- Pain started within the last few days after a known cause (e.g., you slept awkwardly)
- It’s mild and doesn’t limit your daily activities
- Basic self-care (rest, gentle stretching, heat/ice) is helping
- You have no numbness, tingling, or weakness
You should see a physiotherapist if:
- Pain has lasted more than 2-3 weeks
- Self-care isn’t working or pain is getting worse
- You’ve had the same issue before (recurring pattern)
- Pain is moderate to severe and affecting your daily life
- You have neurological symptoms (numbness, tingling, weakness)
- You want to get back to sport or exercise safely
- You’ve had surgery and need rehabilitation
At Form Recovery & Wellness, we’ll always tell you honestly whether you need treatment or whether self-care is the right path. That’s what the quiz above is designed to do, give you a straight answer without needing to book first.
